“An Evening with Professor Sir Tom Devine”
As part of East Lothian Library Service Local History Centre’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations, a special event entitled “An Evening with Professor Sir Tom Devine” will take place on Monday, 11th May 2026 at 6.30 pm at the Haddington Corn Exchange.

Tom Devine, Scotland’s pre-eminent historian and Emeritus Professor at Edinburgh University has very kindly agreed to be part of the celebrations and is keen to welcome heritage professionals at the event.
The event will be set up ‘cabaret style’ (8 people per round tables) so that audience members could purchase drinks at the bar and enjoy them during the talk. Tom will be interviewed about his career, his publications, and his view on various elements of Scottish and local history. There will also be an audience Q&A with Tom.
Kesley’s Book Store of Haddington will be selling some of Tom’s books as Tom is prepared to sign autographs. Audience members can also bring their own Tom Devine books to be signed.
