Why Join the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA)?

Have you thought about becoming an ASGRA Member, but don’t know how, or are not sure why you should?

The Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA) is the only accrediting body for professional genealogists in Scotland.  Its patron is the Lord Lyon King of Arms, Dr Joseph J Morrow CVO CBE KStJ KC LLD DL FRSE.

Whether you are a graduate, who has studied in the genealogical field, or someone who has developed a passion for genealogy and developed their skills through other methods, becoming an ASGRA Member will give you the reassurance that you can take on clients, knowing that you will provide a service of a high standard.

Our Members have all undergone rigorous assessment before being accepted as Full Members of the Association, giving them the security of knowing that they are providing a professional service to clients.

What this means for you as a Member is that you will be able to work in the genealogy industry with the confidence of knowing that you are working to a professional standard not necessarily provided by other professional bodies.  This also gives your clients the security of knowing that they are hiring someone who has undergone rigorous assessment before being accepted as a Full members of the Association.

ASGRA also offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events in person and by Zoom, which are a designed to help Members gain new skills and insight into genealogical areas of research.

Why not get in touch with ASGRA through our membership application page, where you can find  everything you need to know about becoming a Member?
